2025 College 政策 for Funded Summer 实习

资格

  • 学生必须 enrolled at the College in Spring 2025 or in a study abroad program (一个 semester or full-year). 学生 on leave for the spring semester 和 exchange program students from other institutions are ineligible to receive College funding for a summer internship.

时间的承诺

  • 学生被要求在 least 300 hours over 8-10 weeks in the summer unless it is otherwise stated in the application materials. 
  • 实习应该是 每周至少30小时 实习期间. 实习 with fewer than 30 hours/week are not eligible for funding, even if the internship is extended beyond 10 weeks.
  • Summer 实习 funded by the College must 发生在夏季的时间框架 (i.e., begin after the last day of the spring term 和 end before the first day of the fall term). Any work that extends beyond the summer time frame should be coordinated solely between the student 和 employer.

  • 学生们 not permitted to accept any other full-time or part-time positions or enroll in any summer courses (virtual or otherwise) during the designated 8-10 weeks of the internship. Occasional evening or weekend roles (e.g., 遛狗, babysitting) for supplemental pay 实习期间 are allowed but students must limit this additional work to 10 hours or lessavoid positions that impact internship work hours so they can prioritize their internship commitment 和 their own health/wellness.
  • 学生 who want to supplement their summer income are encouraged to look for work in the summer before or after their 8-10 week summer internship commitment. 

 

补偿

  • Funded interns should budget for a maximum of 300 hours over an 8-10 week period––和 8 weeks is strongly recommended for students going to high-cost cities—as the funds are not intended to cover the expenses associated with additional internship weeks.
  • All summer internship awards are distributed in 通过Workday分别分期付款: the full amount less $500 by mid-June after the pre-internship paperwork has been approved 和 $500 in September after the internship, 途径的需求, 和 any additional requirements from the sponsoring department have been met. 学生 who do not complete their internship or the requirements forfeit the final payment.
  • If an employer compensates a student who has received a summer internship award from the College, 然后学院将支付 部分津贴到总奖金. If a student secures a paid internship that exceeds the original award, then the student is ineligible to receive funding from the College.
  • If a student is selected for more than 一个 summer internship award from the College, 学生只能接受 一个 每年暑期大学实习奖励.
  • International students may have to pay taxes on their internship award from the College—please check the International Student section below for more information.  
  • 大部分的暑期津贴是5美元,000 per award for internships that do not include housing; some departments 和 programs may offer higher awards, 不超过7美元,000.
  • Internship sites 和 programs that include housing offer reduced summer stipends. The majority of these stipends range between $3,000-$3,500. Some departments 和 programs may offer higher awards, not to exceed $5,000.

 

国际学生

  • 国际学生需要获得 Curricular Practical Training (CPT) authorization 通过斯莱特在美国实习.S. All international students should submit their pre-internship paperwork at least 2 weeks in advance of their anticipated internship start date 允许进行CPT处理. 
  • Even if you are interning with an established Wellesley employer partner, you must submit an 雇主信 to Slater along with your Internship Agreement.  
  • International students will be taxed at 14% on the stipend but may be able to file a U.S. 领取退税的纳税申报单. The College is also required to have tax forms on file for international students being paid by the College so those students should check in with Dorothy Koulais (多蒂.koulalis@tianjingkeji.com) in Wellesley Accounts Payable about the required tax paperwork.

 

Experiential Learning Requirement (ELR)

  • All students in 8-10 week summer internships funded by the College are automatically pre-approved for two units toward the College’s Experience Learning Requirement (ELR). 学生 do not need to apply for ELR separately.
  • 要获得ELR单位, students must complete all Summer Internship Pathway assignments 和 any department/program specific requirements by the deadlines otherwise they forfeit the ELR units.

 

春夏的沟通 & 预期

  • All students in internships funded by the College 必须亲自出席 实习生开球 事件 晚春时节. 学生 studying abroad in the spring will be provided an online version of the 事件.
  • 学生 must complete the Summer Internship Pathway assignments throughout the spring 和 summer along with any department/program specific requirements. 学生 who do not complete the summer assignments or their internship forfeit their final stipend.
